A new Dynamic Pass Predictor from the BMW group -- a technological innovation which can help drivers understand opportunities to pass the vehicle in front -- is based on digital map data provided by NAVTEQ, a provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation.
NAVTEQ’s patented 'electronic horizon' technology enables the attributes in the NAVTEQ digital map to be used to provide information to the vehicle on the road ahead. However, as it is not able to include the oncoming traffic in its calculations, the navigation system does not make pass recommendations.
The software for this solution has been developed by NAVTEQ and the BMW group.
