4C on way to relaunch Alfa in US

Alfa Romeo 4C leading US revival.
Alfa Romeo is now expected to produce its mid-sized saloon car, to replace the 159, in the middle of next year, writes Brian Byrne.

The 159 was only available in Europe, but its successor will be sold in other markets, including the US.

It will be part of the brand's programme to produce eight new models by 2018. The car was originally slated for production this year, as the Giulia.

Alfa is also planning a large saloon to compete with the BMW 7 Series, as well as both a compact and large SUV.

Alfa is shortly to relaunch in the US, where it has been absent since 1996. The return will be initially with a small consignment of 4Cs.
