Seat convertible mooted

by Brian Byrne. Seat may build a convertible version of its new Leon, to be built at the same Autoeuropa plant in Portugal that will start building VW's new convertible in October.

Last year Seat decided not to build the Tango roadster concept, but if it built a convertible from VW's new model — with which it shares its architecture — it would be financially feasible.

The VW convertible will be positioned between the Golf and the Passat and compete with convertible versions of the BMW 3 series and Mercedes-Benz CLK.
