by Brian Byrne. The new diesel powered version of the Mitsubishi Grandis will be launched in Ireland towards the end of September, and is expected to increase sales of the MPV ten-fold next year.
The Grandis has only been available up to now with a 2.4-litre petrol engine and sold 30 units last year.
But Mitsubishi Ireland expects that some 300 diesel versions will be sold in 2006.
The diesel engine has been sourced from Volkswagen, and has a 6-speed manual tranmission. The price will be announced next week, but it is understood that it will be 'under €40,000'.
