Upstyled Meriva in 2006

A revised version of Opel's Meriva small MPV is set to go on sale in the first quarter of 2006, with a freshened front end, a reprofiled bumper, and some interior revamps.

Two new engines will also become available, including the 1.3-litre CDTi diesel, as used in the Corsa and Tigra, offering a combined fuel economy figure of 57mpg. The 1.6-litre 105hp Twinport engine used in Astra and Zafira will also be available, with an economy figure of 42.2 mpg.

All versions of the new Meriva will feature a halogen version of Opel's Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL).

Prices and trim levels will be confirmed nearer to its launch in the New Year. Brian Byrne.
