159, 207, get five ENCAP stars

Of six cars tested by Euro NCAP in its most recent round, only two achieved the top five-star accolade for occupant protection.

They are the Alfa 159 and the Peugeot 207. Four stars were awarded to upcoming Suzuki SX4 and the Hyundai Tucson.

Kia's Cerato was awarded three stars, and the new Chevrolet Aveo saloon, a revised version of the Kalos, was awarded only two stars and a strikethrough for the unacceptably high risk of life-threatening injury to the driver’s chest, which was highlighted by the frontal test.

The Kia Cerato obtained poor results in the side impact tests, with a high risk of injury to the driver’s chest.
