A V12 TDI engine with 650hp powered the new Audi R10 sports prototype to victory in 12 hours of the Sebring marathon race in the US.
The history-making 650PS Audi R10 TDI sports prototype was driven by Allan McNish, Tom Kristensen and Rinaldo Capello
The 5.5-litre V12 powering the R10 TDI is the world’s first purpose-built diesel racing engine and the first Audi TDI to be built around an all-aluminium block.
It has 1,100Nm of torque which exerts more force on the five-speed sequential transmission than even a Formula 1 car has to contend with.
