PSA Peugeot-Citroen have produced a full-hybrid diesel vehicle which provides up to 30 percent better fuel economy and CO2 emissions that its standard diesel variant.
The prototype Berlingo Multispace was developed in conjunction with automotive suppliers Ricardo and energy storage experts QinetiQ for the Ultra Low Carbon Car Challenge devised by the UK Department of Transport.
The 'Efficient-C' programme culminated in a demonstrator vehicle emitting just 99 g/km CO2 (equivalent to 3.75 litres per 100km or over 75mpg).
