Champion 'excited' at Irish WRC prospect

Double world champion Marcus Gronholm says he's excited at the prospect of piloting the Ford Focus WRC on Irish shores in Ireland’s first ever World Rally Championship leg in November of 2007.

A three-time winner on this year’s series, including a last month’s Acropolis Rally, the Finn commented new events coming into the WRC keep the championship fresh and hopes that Rally Ireland is a success.

Following victories in Monte Carlo, Sweden and Greece, Ford lies in 2nd place in the manufacturers championship, with Gronholm himself in 2nd position. The next rally takes place in Germany in August.
