The car was driven by team Sebastien Bourdais/Pedro Lamy/Stephane Sarrazin and the result came about a two years after the initial announcement from Peugeot Sport of its plans to re-enter the race, fourteen years after its legendary one-two-three finish in 1993. The car was powered by a V12 HDi diesel engine, equipped with a diesel particulate filter system.
A second 908 had to retire while running third three hours before the end. The powerplant of the other car also showed signs of weakness in the dying laps but Sébastien Bourdais succeeded in holding on to cross the finish line. BB.
