The Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving (SaFED) for Vans initiative was launched in January 2006 with support from the UK Department for Transport.
Drivers trained in the SaFED techniques averaged an improvement in MPG of over 24% on the day, up to 60 percent reduction in driver faults, 34 percent reduction of the number of gear changes and a 1.5 percent reduction of journey time. These benefits could equate to a £500 fuel savings per vehicle, depending on mileage.
Fleet managers and van drivers interested in finding out how SaFED for Vans could benefit their business should visit www.safed.org.uk and navigate to the ‘find a trainer’ page. BB.
