Car biggest school transport

Forty percent of school pupils driven to school in the Greater Dublin Area live within 2km of their school.

That's a result of a survey of 150,000 pupils carried out by the Dublin Transportation Authority.

The figure represents a 6 percent increase in five years.

Four out of ten pupils travel to school by car while only 18 percent of pupils use a bus, compared to 23 percent five years ago.

Just 5 percent of secondary students cycle to school. BB
