Ford will introduce a Flex-Fuel version of the new Mondeo early in 2008.
It joins the Focus and C-Max in Ford’s unique line-up of Flexi-Fuel cars, which enjoy a 50 percent VRT rebate and run on ‘duty–free’ E85 bio-ethanol, which is now available at 27 Maxol stations nationwide.
Nearly 400 Ford FFV cars have been sold or ordered to date in Ireland.
The Mondeo FFV will be available from February in both LX and Zetec versions, powered by a specially adapted 2.0-litre 145hp powertrain. It will come in 4-door, 5-door and wagon bodystyles.
“It’s a new market segment for bio-fuel vehicles and one that we feel holds much promise," says Eddie Murphy, Chairman and Managing Director of Ford Ireland. "The business case for FFV is strong. In fact, with generous tax concessions and the ability to fill up on normal petrol where required, there is just no downside from the company’s perspective.”

Mondeo FFV prices will be announced closer to introduction, but are likely to bring a tax rebate of over 3,000 euros to the customer. In addition, companies can claim back VAT on purchases of E85 bio-ethanol and enjoy discounted insurance from a number of providers including FordInsure who offer a 20 percent reduction on FFV vehicles.
