The car, named the 308 Ecomatique, retails for E24,256, and uses the 110hp 1.6 HDI engines mated to a 6-speed electronically controlled clutchless manual gearbox.
The powertrain is actually more economical than the version with the six-speed manually operated transmission, outputting CO2 emissisons of 120g/km instead of 136g/km.
On a first drive, the car's gearbox is smooth and refined, with changes substantially less noticable than on the 5-speed automated manual offered by the PSA Group some years ago.
