Cool at DAA's D

Dublin Airport has improved significantly in many ways over recent years, albeit it is still something of a large work in progress. But they've got things like security checks going smoothly, and the new D area is fairly pleasant, if far from the shops and a long hike whether outgoing or incoming.

But there are still problems there. Like the absence of an ATM, and the very slow systems in the Soho Foods coffee and food shop. The absence of trays at the same place is also a health and safety issue, we think, as it is quite dangerous to try and carry more than a cup of coffee and a sandwich from the place. What happens when you're trying to bring food for a family? Needs work.

Also, though this has nothing to do with Soho themselves, do avoid sitting at the tables next to the concourse, as the strong downflow from the air conditioning is apt to leave you with the makings of a nasty cold. While I'm at it, on a winter morning, the D hall can be quite cold, and the aluminium seating there doesn't help.

Still, the overall experience is better than things used to be at country's primary place of escape from the other dooms and glooms of our suddenly-manged Celtic Tiger.
