Loeb wins, Gallagher top Irish

Donegal driver Shaun Gallagher once again displayed his superior skill by winning group N in Rally Ireland, being the fastest Irish competitor.

The overall winner was Sebastien Loeb, who convincingly led the whole event from Citroen team-mate Dani Sordo and Ford's Mikko Hirvonen.

The Irish team of Shaun Gallagher and Paul Kiely, sponsored by Gulf Ireland, finished 13th overall. They completed the rally in a time of 3:09:41.9 hrs.

The opening round of the World Rally Championship was based in the town of Sligo and saw all drivers taking on stages in both the Republic and Northern Ireland.
