Nissan's first production electric family car will go on sale in Europe in early 2011.
It will be a C-segment car on a brand new platform and there will not be a petrol equivalent.
The car, as yet unnamed, will be the first of a range of EVs from the brand, covering all major segments. It will be unveiled in Yokohama, Japan, on August 4.
The company, under its Alliance banner with Renault, has signed cooperation agreements with governments, utilities and fleet operators in several countries including Ireland, to work towards getting charging infrastructures in place.
Car + Travel today drove a prototype of the drivetrain installed in a Nissan Cube car.
We have driven the future, and it hums.
