New Irish Ferries guide dog policy

Guide Dog Clint has set sail for France on Irish Ferries Oscar Wilde with his owner Rosemary Smyth, making him the first guide dog to undertake the journey on an Irish Ferries vessel.

While guide dogs have been accommodated on ferries for some time, they are treated as any other pet travelling under the Pet Passport scheme and have needed to be kept in kennels for the duration of the journey.

Irish Ferries recently updated their policy for long haul routes to allow guide dogs to remain with their owners.
