Nissan unveiled its Leaf electric car over the weekend, previewing in Yokohama a model that goes on sale in Europe next year.
The compact hatchback is a brand new car an that comfortably seats five adults. It has a range of more than 160km.
Pricing details will be announced closer to start of sales in late 2010, but the company expects the car to be competitively priced in the C-segment range.
The Leaf is powered by laminated compact lithium-ion batteries, and its electric motor delivers 107hp/280Nm. Its technology includes a regenerative braking system
The car is the first in the company’s forthcoming line of EVs and is a major milestone in the realisation of the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s vision for zero-emission mobility.
