Airline bookings later

Pre-booking times for budget flights have shortened as a result of the recession, according to UK-based flight comparison search engine Skyscanner.

In 2008, users searched for flights an average of 146 days ahead on three of the most popular routes out of the UK. This dropped to 34 days in 2009.

Skyscanner says people seem reluctant to book holidays too far in advance in a recession, and there are also worries about the viability of some budget carriers.
