Body scanning at Italian airports

A full-body scanner is being put into operation today at both Rome's Fiumicino and Milan's Malpensa airports.

If the pilot scheme shows that the scanners speed up airport security, there are plans to deploy 15 of them at Italian airports serving transatlantic flights.

The scanners are already in use at many US airports, and some others in Europe on test regimes.
