Car sales continue lift

The lift in car sales continues to improve, with 11 percent more registrations of new passenger cars since the beginning of the year compared to the same period last year.

The 19,882 registrations are a far cry, though, from the 49,458 registered during the same part of 2008.

Meantime, registrations of used passenger imports remains in sharp decline, with 4,223 compared to 7,215 in the period last year, and a similar number the year before.

Commercial new vehicle registrations are up 14 percent at 3,095, but struggling compared to the same period in 2008 when 10,677 had been sold.
