Toyota has Irish 'recall' web page

Toyota in Ireland has now put a special page on its website to answer people's concerns about the recall programme.

Earlier today in a statement, the company also lowered the estimate of cars affected by the accelerator recall situation to 18,130. The original estimate had been 26,000 cars.

This has come about because RHD versions of the RAV 4, and manual versions of the Aygo minicar are not affected by the potential fault.

A new plate will be fixed to the accelerator mechanism, in an operation that will take approximately half an hour.

The models and relevant production periods are Aygo Feb 2005-Aug 2009; iQ Nov 2008-Nov 2009; Yaris Nov 2005-Sep 2009; Auris Feb 2007-Nov 2009; Corolla Feb 2008-Dec 2009; Verso Feb 2009-Nov 2009; Avensis Nov 2008-July 2009.

The 1.4 petrol Corolla and 1.4 diesel Auris are not affected.
