Honda initiates Jazz recall

Honda in Ireland is recalling a number of its Jazz superminis to change an electric window switch which has the potential to short circuit.

The problem is in switches on the driver's side, and could short circuit if contaminated by soft drinks.

The recall is part of a global one.

Meanwhile, Peugeot in Ireland says a small number of its customers are affected by the Toyota recall over accelerator pedal problems. Toyota and PSA Peugeot Citroen, under a partnership agreement share a factory in the Czech Republic, where the Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1 are manufactured. Toyota has launched a preventative recall campaign in Europe on 8 models to resolve a potential accelerator pedal problem. Peugeot in Ireland have confirmed that only 42 of the 711 units of Peugeot 107 model registered in Ireland since its launch in 2006 may be affected by the current Toyota recall.

The risk of malfunction of the accelerator pedal is very rare and the recall is a preventive measure. Only petrol models fitted with ESP as standard or with a 2-tronic electronically controlled gearbox are affected. From launch only 42 Peugeot 107 2-tronic models have been registered in Ireland.
