Red hot DS3 coming

OK, the new Citroen DS3 hasn't arrived in Ireland yet. But when it does, there may be a few people looking for a version with Golf GTI performance.

The company will be showing a howling 200hp version, called DS3 Racing, at the upcoming Geneva Show.

Power will come from an uprated version of the turbocharged 150hp 1.6 petrol engine already used by PSA Group's Peugeot and Citroen models.

Production will be in the second half of this year, and only 1,000 units are planned. Paul Hunt of Citroen Ireland says he hopes it will be available here.

"We are very confident that it is a strong contender in the segment," he says. "But it will be very much dependent on sales and demand for the standard DS3 models when they are launched here in April."
