PSA orders 100,000 electric cars

PSA Peugeot-Citroen has quadrupled its original order from Mitsubishi for the Japanese company to supply Peugeot and Citroen versions of the Mitsubishi i-Miev electric city car over the next five years.

The original agreement was for 25,000 cars, but now is 100,000 units in the time frame.

This is yet another indication of the growing importance of the electric car in the strategy of major carmakers in the face of more stringent CO2 emissions regulation.
