Hyundai greens up i20

Hyundai's i20 is getting more efficient thanks to aerodynamic and technology tweaks.

The brand's supermini in 1.2 petrol form now has emissions of 119g/km, a 5g drop that brings it into the A Tax Band in Irish terms. The 1.4 petrol and two diesels which aren't sold in Ireland have also been made significantly greener.

The improvements were gained by adding a small spoiler to the underneath of the car to improve airflow around the wheels, fitting an Eco Drive indicator in the instrument panel to suggest the best point to change gear, using low friction engine oil and an alternator management system.

Inside, the instruments are now illuminated in blue rather than red, bringing the car into line with others in the Hyundai range.
