Jazz to have hybrid powertrain

Honda is to introduce the world's first supermini hybrid at the Parish Motor Show with the reveal of a hybrid version of its Jazz.

The car will have a version of the integrated motor assist (IMA) system already familiar in a version of the Civic saloon and the Insight. The powertrain will be the same as the Insight's 1.3-litre i-VTEC engine combined with a CVT gearbox, with an electric motor sandwiched between the two to create a parallel hybrid system.

Like those, the hybrid Jazz will be capable of running on the electric motor alone under some medium and low speed conditions.

The car will have distinctive lights and a refreshed interior. Emissions and fuel details will be revealed at the show.
