Chevrolet charge at Paris

Chevrolet has been rather quiet as a brand in Ireland for the last year or two, but watch this space for some substantial news before the end of the year, writes Brian Byrne. Expect two new models and significant detail on the distributor's plans for the Irish market.

Meantime, though, Chevy is pushing out the European boat at Paris next week with a strong lineup of new cars. The Orlando compact MPV leads the charge, along with a new Aveo and a Captiva that has been revised and gets new engines.

In addition, the hatchback version of its Cruze compact makes its debut as a near-production concept, promising to offer a competitive alternative in hatch-favouring Europe to the likes of Focus, Astra, and Golf.

The final version of the extended-range EV, the Volt, will also be on view prior to its imminent launch.
