EU urges more rural road safety measures

An EU road safety agency says Ireland needs to provide more safe overtaking areas on its two-lane roads.

The European Road Safety Council (ERSC) also says the speed limit on rural roads without a median barrier should be dropped from 100km/h to 70km/h.

Dangerous intersections should also be replaced by roundabouts, the ERSC says in a new report.
