Fiat has delayed launching new models until the end of next year and into 2012 because of the recession.
Fiat boss Sergio Marchionne said it made 'no sense' to launch new products in a market that is 'structurally weak'. He said the company has 'saved ammunition for the recovery'.
Fiat launched no brand new models at the Paris Motor Show, which opened to the public at the weekend.
In Ireland, the brand is a '2 percent' player, number 17 in national car sales year to date with 1,414 units sold.
