Volkswagen has launched two new models, the Touran and the Sharan, to the Irish market. These 7-seater, multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs) are now on sale at Volkswagen dealerships throughout the country.
The new Touran range includes two diesel engines, a 1.6 outputting 90 and 105bhp, and a 2.0 TDI 140bhp. There's also a Touran TDI BlueMotion. Fuel consumption is around 4.6 L/100km and emissions of 121 g/km C02 place this in Band B for road tax. Only diesels are available. Two trims are offered. Prices are from €27,495 for the 1.6 TDi 90bhp model.
Everything in the new Touran is new. Features include new generation of Park Assist which allows the car to park in not only parallel spaces but also end-on spaces.
The new 7-seat Sharan is the most advanced people carrier Volkswagen has ever produced. At the heart of the range are two advanced TDI diesel engines linked to 6-speed manual or DSG gearboxes. These TDI engines are up to 21 per cent more fuel efficient. Large sliding doors allow access to the rear seats. Three trim lines are offered. Prices are from €41,990 for the 2.0 TDi 140bhp model.
