Compass will lead new Jeep push in Ireland

A completely redesigned Jeep Compass will underpin the new sales push of the iconic American brand when Fiat Ireland take over the Irish sales operation in mid-summer, writes Brian Byrne.

Substantially upgraded outside and in, the new version of the Compass is being aimed at the 'urban SUV' market, and will be available with a 2.0 petrol and a pair of 2.2 diesels of 136/163hp outputs.

The lower powered diesel will be a Band C unit in terms of Irish CO2 tax.

A new 2WD drivetrain option will be available alongside the proven Freedom Drive I four-wheel drive configuration

Improved ride and handling characteristics are a feature of the Compass for Europe.

Prices have yet to be finalised for Ireland under the new ownership.
