Jaguar to produce C-X75 supercar

Jaguar has confirmed that it will put into production a hybrid supercar based on the C-X75 concept that was one of the biggest attractions at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, writes Brian Byrne.

The car will be able to do the 0-100km/h in around three seconds, and will have an all-electric range of more than 50km. Its CO2 emissions rating is expected to be 99g/km. Though no powertrain details have yet been revealed, the concept car had 195bhp electric motors on each wheel while two gas turbines provide 94bhp each.

The production car will be built on an all-carbon fibre chassis and is expected to be priced from £700,000. The car will be developed in association with Williams F1 who will provide their engineering expertise in areas including aerodynamics, carbon composite manufacture and hybrid technologies.

Only 250 will be built.
