Sardinia, an island steeped in history, is where the MINI WRC Team will make its historic debut in the FIA World Rally Championship next week.
With its two MINI John Cooper Works WRCs driven by Kris Meeke (GB) and Dani Sordo (ES), the team will start the Rally Italy, Sardinia tomorrow and begin a new era for this iconic brand.
The MINI Countryman was the car chosen for the project.
Meeke, from Northern Ireland, will be co-driven by our own Paul Nagle (ROI) in car number 52 (above).
The heart of the MINI is the 1.6 4-cylinder Di turbo engine, also available in the brand's production models.
The Rally Italy which takes place from 5-8 May, is the fifth round of the 2011 WRC championship. It will cover some 1,183 kilometres around the island.
It is followed by the Rally Argentina from 26-29 May.
