It is one of the country's oldest annual rally competitions and is a top event in the Irish rallying calendar with a reputation for being one our most challenging events.
Rally legend Markku Alzn flagged off this 40th running of the event in Letterkenny this morning. The Finnish driver began his career in Volvos, moving on to drive for Ford, and spending a long career with Fiat and Lancia. TV Formula 1 commentator Tony Jardine is also at the event.
