Chevrolet and the RML team made it another triumphant day yesterday in the Race of Portugal which marked the end of the first half of the 2011 WTCC season.
A 1-2-3 in Race 1, won by Alain Menu, and 1-2 in Race 2 with Rob Huff in the top position, mean Chevrolet has won 11 out of 12 races this year and has a very comfortable lead in both championships.
Alain Menu and Rob Huff shared the race wins in Porto while Yvan Muller pocketed two second places. However, the outcome of the Portuguese round was clearly in favour of Huff who managed to stretch further his leading gap that is now of 29 points ahead of Muller.
In both races Tiago Monteiro took the most out of the weekend besides the three Chevrolet guys, claiming his first podium on his home race track. Official figures claim 80,000 spectators on Sunday and over 140,000 over the weekend.
The WTCC championship resumes at Donington Park in the UK on 17th July for rounds 13 and 14.
