The new generation BMW 1 Series will launch in Ireland in the first half of October at an entry price of €27,640 OTR, writes Brian Byrne from Berlin.
That version is a B-rated 136hp petrol car delivering almost 50mpg equivalent.
A 170hp version will also be available, also Band B, while diesels will be on sale in 116/143/184hp options, in CO2 bands A/B.
Four grades will be on offer, ES, SE, Sport and Urban.
While the current 1 Series sells almost 90 percent diesel in Ireland, the new car is expected to sell in more substantial petrol versions because of the improved efficiency.
