New Focus lifts model
The arrival of Ford's new generation Focus even late in the selling year has lifted the model back to the top-selling car position in the first six months of this year, writes Brian Byrne.
The nameplate has toppled VW's Golf off the top spot, which it has held in recent months, in part due to the run-out situation of the second-generation Focus. The model has been top-seller in Ireland on ten occasions since the first one was launched in 1998.
The latest version arrived here in March, and since then has notched up over 1,200 units of the 3,841 Focus cars sold here since January.
The new car offers a range of new and 'smart' technologies, including Active City Stop, Auto-Start-Stop, and Torque Vectoring Control which greatly improves cornering.
The new 2011 Ford Focus is available from €20,825.
