The ESB will run a Nissan Leaf electric car in this year's Cannonball Run fundraiser for Barretstown, which takes place over the weekend.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny will drop the starter's flag in Merrion Square in Dublin at 10am tomorrow, Friday 9 September. Some 150 'supercars' will take part in the event which passes through 14 counties, stopping in Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Limerick, Westport and Kilkenny.
ESB ecars will power the all electric Nissan LEAF car by plugging into charge points along the route, demonstrating that journeys in an electric car around Ireland are possible by using the charging infrastructure which is already installed.
