Jaguar to show C-X16 production concept in Frankfurt

Jaguar has released details of the C-X16 concept ahead of its world debut next week at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Looking to the future, the C-X16 marks a new chapter for Jaguar. A hybrid, this two-seater, rear-wheel drive concept combines searing performance with beautifully styling.

A next-generation supercharged V6 petrol engine produces 380PS and 450 Nm of torque. The car's performance is further supplemented by a Formula 1-inspired hybrid boost system with a steering-wheel mounted button for on-demand acceleration.

Integrated into the eight-speed gearbox is a motor generator which draws power from a 1.6kWh battery pack mounted behind the seats. With brake energy regeneration, the batteries help provide an additional power and torque. The car can travel at speeds of up to 50mph under electric power alone.

The C-X16 has a top speed of 186mph; the aluminium chassis structure results in a 0-62mph trip of 4.4 seconds. C02 emissions are 165g/km.
