Lights checks jump

Car spares retailer Halfords in Ireland has seen a jump in sales of light bulbs, following the reveal of new penalty points offences which include faulty vehicle lighting.

Halfords offer a free lights inspection to motorists, and the company says it is been 'inundated' with requests for the service.

“Defective lights are one of the most common car faults and a frequent cause of NCT test failures," says Halfords Ireland Area Manager Phil Barr. "They can also cause accidents, but it is a problem which is easy and cost-effective to fix."

Halfords provide brake lights, indicator lights, fog lamps and interior light bulbs and sell replacements, all of which can be fitted at what the company claims is up to 50 percent less than average dealership fitting prices.
