Ford will launch a system where text messages will be read aloud to drivers, so they won't be tempted to read texts on their phones while driving.
The system, part of the company's SYNC package, will debut in Europe with the B-MAX small MPV this summer. It will quickly be made available on other Ford models.
The move comes against the background of a Europe-wide survey that suggests half of all motorists have read texts while driving, even though virtually all of the 5,500 respondents agreed that it was a dangerous practice.
