Figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI) show sales of new Light Commercial Vehicles (vans) for April at 946 were down 14 percent; however, year-to-date at 5978, they are down by just 1 percent.
New Heavy Good Vehicles (truck) sales year-to-date at 669 are up by 23 percent.
The best selling car brand so far this year is Toyota, but the best selling car model this year is the Ford Focus.
Some 73 percent of new cars sold were diesel cars.
The best selling colour car so far this year is Silver.
