The new A3 is now on sale at Audi dealerships nationwide, writes Trish Whelan.
It competes in the premium A-segment.
Four reworked engines are available at launch including 1.4 and 1.8 TFSI petrol engines outputting 122bhp and 180bhp; as well as 1.6TDI and 2.0 TDI diesel versions outputting 105bhp and 150bhp respectively. All deliver efficiency gains averaging 12 per cent.
The 1.4 is offered from €27,400 OTR while the 1.6 diesel is priced from €28,400.
A 1.2 105bhp petrol version, priced from €25,900 will arrive in early November and a saloon version is planned for later.
The A3 family has been a huge success for the brand selling more than 11,000 units since it was launched here in 1996. Over its production life to date, the A3 range has represented over 20 per cent of total Audi sales and is regarded as a conquest model by the brand.
This third generation A3 has been completely redesigned inside and out by Irish designer David Caffrey.
