New Transit Connect revealed

Ford’s new generation Transit Connect will be built in Valencia, Spain on the same assembly line and on the C1 passenger car platform used for the Focus, Kuga and C-MAX, writes Brian Byrne from the Hannover Commercial Vehicle Show.

With a payload of up to 930kg, the new Transit Connect will have passenger car comfort with van strength, the company’s Wolfgang Booms said today. Capacity is up to 3.6 cu m.

It will also come with the option of a number of the technologies used in the brand’s passenger cars, including Active City Stop and Sync connectivity.

A much more stylish design than the very boxy current vehicle, power options will include the 1.0 EcoBoost 3-cylinder petrol, a 1.6 petrol, and three diesels of 75/95/115hp outputs.

A Tourneo passenger version will also be available.
