OK, it's Motor Show time again, and this one is Paris, which comes around every second year, write Trish Whelan & Brian Byrne.
We'll post stuff as we go, and at the beginning we'll let the pictures do the talking, adding detail later. So keep coming back today, there'll regularly be more.
Putting a stronger face on the top of the line Lexus, this is the new L600h F-Sport. A lot of car, a lot of luxury and, of course, the evolution of where the brand started.
SEAT's Leon and its companion saloon Toledo have a job to bringing the Spanish VW brand back into the serious market. The flowy curves of the Altea regime have gone, now there's sharp lines and some techie detailing at the lights. The usual powertrain suspects, including some hot variants.
Skoda's new Rapid has been concepted a number of times, now the production version will put the brand squarely into the compact family area between the Fabia and Octavia. The lines are conservative but pleasing in their simplicity, and are likely to be dateless. Powertrains are familiar from the VW Group.
This Crosslane Coupe Concept from Audi gives some indication of future styling thoughts from VW's premium brand. One thing is sure, the designers are still happy for Audi models to be fairly in your face.
Toyota's new generation Auris shows smart new lines in its shape and in addition there's a seriouslly attractive wagon version that could make waves in the compact wagon market in Europe, where it's stronger than in Ireland. Hybrids will make up a strong proportion of Auris sales.
Although they do have a Phaeton Concept hiding in a back room, Volkswagen's emphasis is obviously on the car that defines the brand today, the latest generation Golf. Lots of versions, including GTIs and lean and frugal Bluemotion versions. A sharper style, improved interiors, and a lot of weight trimmed off are the talking points.
Ford's new Mondeo makes its European launch (it did appear at Detroit as the Fusion for the American market) and as well as the standard car there's a stylish wagon and a hybrid variant.
The blue oval also has its new EcoSport small SUV on show, filling out a genre where it sees growth in Europe. Made in India, it's on the same platform as the recently-launched B-MAX small MPV.
Mazda's main attraction is its new Mazda6, the car that arguably brought the brand back into business and this latest version of which they showed first at the Moscow Motor Show, Russia being a major market for the company. The European premiere is the wagon version.
Renault's new generation Clio is clearly very important to them, as we've never seen so many copies of a model on a show stand. And the car is getting the crowds too, as well it might, because this is one stylish and sexy supermini.
Awesome is Peugeot's study for a new supercar, the Onyx. Powered by a 600hp V8 hybrid setup, the 3.7 engine mid-mounted, the RCZ styling cues are visible.
We don't have an Infiniti dealer yet in Ireland, but there's growing interest in Nissan's premium arm in Europe. Pride of their stand is this Emerge-E study, the first version of which we saw at Geneva earlier this year. Most Infinitis are frumpy looking, but this shows there's styling flair hidden away there somewhere in HQ.
There's going to be strong niche interest in this sweet little GTI variant of Peugeot's 208.
And this DS3 Cabrio is Citroen's show-off in Paris 2012. Again a small market for it, but will work well as a halo in some countries.
More as we go. There's a lot of stuff which the wraps haven't been taken off of yet.
