Road rage is rife

Nearly four in ten Irish drivers admit to shouting or getting angry behind the wheel on a weekly basis—with a very angry 11.5 per cent admitting to daily bouts of road rage.

That's suggested by a recent Continental Tyres study carried out among Irish drivers, which also revealed around 13 percent of motorists have got out of their car to confront another driver.

Nearly one in three road users ‘expect’ to experience aggressive or intimidating driving whilst out in the car.

Paddy Murphy of Continental Tyres Ireland say the figures are 'shocking'. "If motorists feel intimidated or angry they will lack concentration, increasing the danger for other road users, never mind not enjoying the driving experience," he says while urging drivers to consider using more courtesy while driving

The study found that when on the receiving end of road rage 40 percent of respondents feel angry, 21 percent feel shaken and nearly one in five (18.9 per cent) feel like retaliating.
