The BMW 3 Series is the Continental Irish Car of the Year 2013, writes Brian Byrne.
With 240 points in the competition run by the Irish Motoring Writers Association, the BMW beat the Volvo V40 which gained 220 points, and the Peugeot 208 (202).
The Peugeot 208 won the Continental Irish Small Car of the Year Category. The Volvo V40 took the Compact Family honours, and the BMW 3 Series the Family Car.
BMW also took the Executive/Luxury award with the 6 Series Gran Coupe, and the Toyota GT86 won the Performance Car category.

The Continental Irish Van of the Year 2013 is the Ford Transit Custom. The vans were voted on by the Van Jury of the Irish Motoring Writers Association. Pictured with the trophy are Anne O'Leary and Ciaran McMahon from Ford Ireland.
The awards were presented by Paddy Murphy of Continental Ireland.
