Fiesta to get 'Active City Stop'

Ford of Europe is to introduce its low-speed collision avoidance system, Active City Stop, in the new Fiesta.

Even the most attentive driver has to blink, and in that time this technology will capture and process 15 images of the road ahead inits search for potential hazards.

It uses a sophisticated light-detecting and ranging sensor to scan the road ahead 50 times every second to help prevent collisions at speeds up to 16 km/h and help reduce the severity of impacts at speeds below 32km/h. In heavy traffic with lots of potential distractions and slow-moving, stop-start traffic, it can provide an extra eye on the road.
